A love letter of encouragement for women navigating transition and becoming.
Whew… it's been a while since I’ve shown up in this space - and let me be honest: life came at me fast.
One son moved out before he was ready and has needed support in ways I didn’t anticipate. My daughter is back for her final year in undergrad, trying to make it to the finish line after funding was cut due to paused DEI initiatives. (Parent Plus loan to the rescue, of course.)
As a government employee, I carry the constant stress of job insecurity. Add in the joy of a new grandbaby, the pain of a hip injury, physical therapy sessions, lingering fatigue, and still pushing myself through bootcamp workouts...
And still - I'm here.
Still believing in purpose.
Still whispering to myself, "Just show up."
Still trusting that this pause wasn't the end of the story.
Not Perfect. Not Polished. Just Present.
I’ve started my MBA at Jackson State University, something I’m proud of, even though it adds another layer to an already full plate. But through it all, I’ve been battling depression, discouragement, and the shame that creeps in with whispers like:
“You’re falling behind.”
“You’re not doing enough.”
“You’ve let it all go.”
My website has been silent.
My blog untouched.
Bracelets left unsold.
My momentum swallowed by survival.
But here’s what I’m learning:
Showing up doesn’t mean having it all together.
Showing up just means… you didn’t give up.
If You’re Still Here, This Is for You
Maybe you’re like me, stretched thin, worn down, and wondering if it’s too late to restart. It’s not.
You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
You’re not disqualified.
And it’s never too late to begin again.
Today, I’m showing up messy, honest, and hopeful.
Because you deserve to know:
You’re not the only one climbing out of the fog.
You’re not the only one who paused.
You’re not the only one who still believes.
So… Welcome Back to Positively Speaking
Let’s move forward imperfectly, together.
Let’s lace up our boots, even when it’s hard.
Let’s rewrite our comeback stories, one post, one prayer, one moment at a time.
Because quitting was never an option.
Because the comeback is sacred.
Because P.S…. I love you!
